Although I must admit that I was a bit disappointed by the lack of sufficient elevators in the parking building. Not only they were too small, but also lacked ventilation. And you had to wait for at least two or three trips before your turn to enter the elevator came. Other than that, it was a well organized event.
If you are a book lover & you live in UAE, it is a must visit event. And you better hurry up too, the show will end on 22nd of March :-)
One more thing before I sign off, this is the 100th post on this blog, have finally achieved the 100 post landmark after 32 months of blogging :-D

Thank you friends for your kind words. Allow me to share with you guys the list of books I acquired at the fair, as per the wish of مسك الحياة :-)
The New Gulf, How Modern Arabia is Changing the World for Good by Edmund O'Sullivan. The name says it all :-)
Wings Over The Gulf by Shirley Kay. Well it chronicles the history of aviation in the Gulf from World War I onwards, with some very old & rare pics.
Travelling the Sands by Andrew Taylor. This book uses first hand accounts of various travellers who travelled through arabia & tries to give a picture of hardships they endured & the motivation behind their travels. One of my favourite themes :-)
Zelzelah, A Woman Before Her Time. An autobiography about Mariam Behnam.
Raindrops, A Journey Through Life, a collection of 50 essays on life & true happiness, also by Mariam Behnam.
Taking the High Road by Ram Buxani, also an autobiography of the Dubai based businessman.
I did like this years book fair ok. I was quite happy to find some great finds from the literary period I study/read, which are very rare, so that was good. Also, I loooooved the antique books and I think I spent hours staring and flipping through them, I visited 3 times just for the sake of looking over and over at them. I was however kind of dissapointed, I found something quite rare and in very good condition from the period I study, and was willing to pay the not so hefty price (yes, a set of antique books that were actually underpriced, no way neaaaar expesnive for their age and condition) but was heartbroken to find out that it has been "booked" by a collector who didn't appreciate the content/history of the books, but rather, its rarity. The Owner (who was visting the country for the first time) actually thought that he might risk himself getting castrated if he sold it to me instead :/
-Enjoy your books & cograts on the 100th post
بارك الله بك..
لفت نظري كتاب Zelzelah.. ربما لأني أول مرة أسمع بهذه الشخصية..
ربماسأقتنيه يوما.. <<< فائدة مشاركة قائمةالكتب ^.^

First of All, around of apload for this marvelous theme change =) I like it..
second, the book fair in AD is one of my MUST attend events along with the Music Festival - which you must attend next year etha allah 3a6anah 3omr,,
This year in the book fair the variety of activities added an interactive element between audiance and books,, made them feel the books.. It's amazing and will get better I assure you =P
the parking problems,, that might be all because the whole ADNEC area is still under construction.. but the final plans of the project makes it an amazing addition to the country and will turn the expectations upside down ... stay tuned for the future of AD ^_^
Congrats 3al 100 posts :D
great blog, check out my blog at http://www.ahxuan2share.blogspot.com
I really like the set-up of your blog Dubai Guy. It looks so classy and different from the mainstream ones you see out there. I will definitely not be a stranger, and am so excited about your 100th post.
My favorite book is Eastward to Tartary by Robert Kaplan. I really like the idea of Travelling The Sands quite a lot. I hope to be able to find it easily here in Austin, Texas at Barnes and Nobles.
Keep up the good work Dubai Guy. Take care,
Yasemin
